About the Program

The College of Charleston Bike Share was developed by a student-led team and first launched in Fall 2013. The program was founded on the idea that bicycling can be a safe, healthy, sustainable, and fun way to get around campus and around Charleston. The program offers free bike rentals to any current students, faculty, and staff. Our goal is to make biking more accessible to the 10,000+ students that call Charleston home.

We offer two different ways for students and faculty to rent bikes: Short-Term and Long-Term

  • Short-term bikes are located at Stern Center and can be rented out for one full day. This program is currently ON PAUSE.
  • Long-term bikes are located at 207 Calhoun Street at the Center for Sustainable Development (this is our new location!). We are located behind Addlestone Library. Long-term rentals are for a full semester. To reserve a long-term bike, please fill out a reservation form. We have limited bikes for long-term rentals, so the bikes are first-come, first-served each semester. For Spring 2022, all of our bikes have been reserved. Please contact us at sustainability@cofc.edu with questions.

Everyone who reserves a bike must watch the Bike Safety Video, and sign a liability form (included in each of the reservation forms). But it's fast and easy. You'll be on one of our bikes in no time!
