UPDATE ON JC LONG BIKE PARKING

Have you found yourself at J.C. Long with a bike and nowhere to park it? Your problems (or at least this one) are now over! Two bike racks have been relocated to the Liberty Street side of the J.C. Long building and are available for student use.

BIKE RESOURCE UPDATE

There have been a few changes to the resources available to bikers on campus:

  • The bike pump at the Communications Museum is no more, but the public bike pump at The Sustainability Institute at 113 Calhoun St. is still available to students.
  • Commuter bikers can now use the showers at George Street Fitness Center and the Johnson Center since the pool closure at Stern has made that shower unavailable.

Students can keep up-to-date on available resources by checking out the Campus Bike Resources page.

HAVE CLASS AT HARBOR WALK?

Biking is a great way to cover the distance between main campus and the new classrooms out at Harbor Walk. Don't have your own bike? Sign up to use the bike share program in order to gain access to one of our 16 beach cruiser style bikes. Check out the College's Harbor Walk site for more information and suggested routes. Be sure to bike safely and follow the rules of the road and bike safely!

CITY OF CHARLESTON SKATEBOARDING MAP AND REGULATIONS

With a lot of help from students of the College of Charleston, the City of Charleston just passed a new map and set of guidelines for skateboarders on the peninsula. Read news.cofc.edu for more info!

NEW CITY ORDINANCE

In November of 2013, the city passed new regulations pertaining to bicycle parking on King St. and installed new bike racks and corrals between Calhoun and Spring to encourage legal bicycle parking. See this flyer for an explanation of these regulations and a map of the new parking locations.
